Sometimes I do get to places just when God’s ready to have someone click the shutter. -Ansel Adams

Driving up the two lane through the Tetons I saw that the sun would have plenty of space to move between the mountains and the clouds and that we’d have a special sunset.

As rays shone through, the Grand Teton was casting its own shadow against the clouds. It was already magical.

I got in position a few moments early, something I don’t always do. There are days when the light never comes, but you knew this evening had potential to be special.
Reblogged this on O LADO ESCURO DA LUA.
All of them are lovely — each in its own way. I presume there is some post processing at work.
They were shot in RAW, only photojournalistic standards of editing, contrast, sharpness, et al. Non of my photos made on a DSLR are ever manipulated in any way. iPhone shots, yes, DSLR shots-never!
Impressed 🙂
Breathtaking and majestic!
Thank you Mrs P, I was in awe all evening…
Awesome, absolutely spectacular, Russ. What a treasure you have captured!
Thanks Melinda, it was one of those evenings where I kept saying to God, “thank you, thank you!”
in awe Russ, wow!
#4 seems to be a great candidate for high contrast Black and White (do it for me 🙂 )
thanks!
I enjoy when a color photo appears monochromatic, but you’re right, I may just have to play with that shot a bit… Thanks as always for the kind words and encouragement!
I visited grand Teton in July and took way too many shots! Nice to be reminded through this post..
Yeah, when the conditions are right you can certainly come away with some nice photographs. I was very thankful to be there in that moment!
Loved the Ansel Adams quote as well as your images. Very beautiful ~
Thanks!

Thanks John!
Love the Ansel Adams quote. Thanks for sharing His sunset! What a blessing you took the time to notice. I wonder how many people just keep on driving, or walking by.
Fortunately down in the Tetons lots of people stop and take it all in. They don’t mark the side roads well though, so you have to spend some time exploring to find the right spots.
pleasure is a follow-up
More to come…
