Before continuing forward for the year, I thought I’d clear out the last of the Ladakh images (until I get there again). This is a fairly random collection, and doesn’t necessarily tell a coherent story, just parts that make up the whole. The captions will help tell the story. For the entire gallery please visit nomadruss.com and click on The Ladakh Himalaya.

Two young girls laugh with each other while standing on frozen Tso Kar Lake on Ladakh’s Changtang plateau, which sits at just under 15,000 ft. This was on a cold February afternoon.

Awesome photos
Thank you!
Russ, you have some brilliant photos. I love the picture of the woman practicing for the dance. That expression is beautiful. And the two boys below it are awesome as well. Great shots.
What time of year did you visit?
Appreciate it Jeff, I actually lived in Ladakh for several years. Best time in my opinion would be late September/October or January for trekking the frozen Zanskar River.
Thanks for the tips. Trekking Zanskar looks intense. I don’t think my wife would do that! I’ll have to wait until September.
There’s a big festival each September, good time to be there.
These are absolutely incredible. I especially love that first one of the girls laughing and smiling in what appears to be cold as hell weather. Really great post.
Thanks Callie, that was February at 15,000 feet, it was cold indeed!
Wow – Beautiful pictures, beautiful people. I want to go to there.
Love these…thanks for the share!
Always appreciate it Mrs P!
These are absolutely amazing Russ! It looks like a National Geographic assignment! What were you doing in there? Was it for work? Gorgeous photos.
Wonderful images.
Love the photo with the man and little boy.
