Working as a park ranger at Old Faithful for the season, I was mindful of making the occasional photograph of the eruption and compiled these images of Old Faithful erupting during the summer of 2016. They were made while out on rove, or behind the visitor center desk, whether the light was good or bad. Most were made on the iPhone, while a few were made with my Nikon. It’s simply a season long documentation.

One of the wonders of nature…
Truly an incredible series, Russ 🙂
Thanks Sreejith!
Those are some interesting perspectives. My friend who used to work in the bar there talked about how it would empty out and then fill up again, ebbing and flowing to the timing of the geyser, which is something you don’t think about. I really love the photo at night/sunset in the middle.
Thanks Jeff, and yes, that ebb and flow is real.
How lucky are you, Russ? This is a thrill to see and I was happy to capture this amazing event. Great shots!
I was indeed most fortunate to spend another season in Yellowstone
The photographer staring back reflected in the window glass a ghostly figure.
That was my self portrait in the mix
